About the Project

The Mythical Europe project is a joint venture prepared by members of youth organizations from 8 European Union countries. It is an idea to present European integration, the European Union and the future of Europe by referring to mythology, both ancient and modern. Through the project, we wanted to tell the history of Europe in our own words, referring to well-known legends and stories, about what unites us and not divides us, about common values, about our European identity.

Goals and values

The aim of the project was to deepen participants' knowledge about Europe, European integration, the European Union and EU values such as freedom, democracy, equality, respect for others, respect for human rights and minorities. The project aimed to promote these values, as well as pluralism, non-discrimination, tolerance, justice, solidarity and gender equality among participants, who should also develop their intercultural awareness. The project was co-financed by the European Union Erasmus+ program.

Project details

The key element of our project was a six-day youth exchange that gathered 48 participants from 8 Erasmus+ countries, including group leaders. The youth exchange focused on  basic knowledge about Europe and our beliefs: common European values, international dialogue, tolerance, openness to different cultures, human rights and diversity.

The participants, together with representatives of partner organizations, were looking for a way to tell interesting stories about Europe to show their peers that the European Union is a great undertaking and can be talked about in a very interesting way, convincing others to integrate through interesting stories, stories and myths. We achieved this by using storytelling methods to describe European affairs. Here is the New Myth about Europe, prepared by the participants!
