Metaverse Learning Hub Project: Empowering Youth Through Digital and Human Skills

Info

About the Project

The Metaverse Learning Hub is a collaborative Erasmus+ KA2 project, coordinated by Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam (Netherlands) in partnership with organizations across Europe, including the European Institute Foundation. This innovative initiative is designed to empower youth workers with tools and methodologies to foster digital and human skills development among young people. The project particularly focuses on disadvantaged youth, including young Ukrainian refugees who have been displaced due to the conflict in Ukraine. By promoting personal growth, social inclusion, and employability, the project aims to address critical challenges faced by this vulnerable group.

Inauguration

On 26 March 2024 in Rotterdam, the kickoff meeting for the Metaverse Learning Hub (MLH): Developing Youth’s Human and Digital Skills through Gamification & Immersive Learning Experiences project was held. The meeting was organized by Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam and was attended by Piotr Uhma, President of the European Institute Foundation. This inaugural meeting set the stage for the project's implementation and reinforced the commitment of all partners to its success.

Project objectives

The project involves several key activities to achieve its objectives. Comprehensive qualitative research will refine existing analyses of disadvantaged youth's needs, laying a solid foundation for evidence-based interventions. The project will review best practices and resources to support youth workers and create game-based learning tools, including two immersive experiences in the metaverse and an offline role-play card game. These activities will culminate in the development of a handbook for youth workers and a set of policy recommendations to improve frameworks for youth skills development. Additionally, the project will organize an LTTA (Long-Term Training Activity) to test and refine its tools while fostering international collaboration.

The expected outcomes include the creation of practical resources such as a handbook for youth workers and immersive, game-based learning experiences that bridge digital and human skill-building. The policy recommendations will provide actionable insights to influence broader policy changes for disadvantaged youth, ensuring the project's impact extends beyond its duration.
